Political Science

In my Political Science courses, I've done a lot of analytical writing that involves comparing different arguments, applying political theories, and using evidence to support my claims. One assignment I remember was an essay for my American Political Tradition class where I compared Montesquieu and Madison's views on the promises and dangers of democracy. I think this type of writing plays to my strengths because I enjoy looking at different perspectives, finding connections between ideas, and developing my own argument rather than just summarizing what others have said. I'm also good at breaking down complicated ideas and organizing them into clear points. At the same time, these assignments have pushed me to think more critically about the evidence I use and how I can make my arguments more convincing.

I wish there had been more course options. It seems like there would be a lot because there are 4 types of politics courses, but there are only a few each semester and many of them have poor reviews. In general, I enjoyed the courses I took, but I would not say it's easy to find good courses in this department.
