OpenMajors Terms of Service

I. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using OpenMajors ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site. These Terms govern your use of the Site and all services, content, and features made available through it. These Terms also contain a binding arbitration clause and a class action waiver, described in Section XIII.

II. Description of the Service

OpenMajors is an online platform that allows users to submit and view reviews about academic majors and educational programs. Reviews may be submitted anonymously or with optional verification via email. All content is intended to help users make more informed decisions based on peer-shared experiences.

III. Eligibility

To use this Site, you must be at least 16 years of age. By using the Site, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and agree to abide by these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

IV. User Conduct

You agree that when using the Site:

• You will not submit content that is false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, abusive, or discriminatory.
• You will not impersonate another person or submit a review pretending to be someone else.
• You will not attempt to scrape, hack, or interfere with the operation of the Site.
• You will only submit content based on your own genuine experience.
• You understand and accept that your reviews may be reviewed by moderators before being published.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these rules or is otherwise deemed inappropriate at our sole discretion.

V. Review Submissions and Verification

Users may submit reviews anonymously or choose to verify their reviews via email. If you submit a verified review:

• You agree to provide a valid email address solely for the purpose of verification.
• Your email will not be shared publicly or used for marketing purposes.
• Verified reviews may be marked as such to distinguish them from unverified submissions.

VI. Content Ownership and License

By submitting content to the Site, you:

• Retain ownership of the content you submit.
• Grant OpenMajors a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, display, distribute, and create derivative works from your content for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform.

You acknowledge that once posted, your reviews are public and may be viewed, copied, or shared by other users.

VII. No Guarantee of Accuracy

User-submitted reviews reflect personal opinions and may not be fact-checked. OpenMajors does not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or truthfulness of any content submitted by users.

VIII. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. Your use of those sites is at your own risk.

IX. Modification of Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Updates will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of any changes.

X. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OpenMajors and its affiliates, officers, agents, employees, and partners from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another.

XI. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenMajors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Site or any content therein.

XII. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to the Site or its users.

XIII. Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver

By using this Site, you agree to resolve any dispute or claim relating to these Terms or your use of the Site through binding arbitration rather than in court, except for certain types of disputes that may be brought in small claims court. You also agree to waive any right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration.

You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of your first use of the Site by sending an email tocontact@openmajors.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out."

XIV. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any legal action or proceeding relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in the United States, and you consent to the jurisdiction thereof.
