Information Systems

I would have wished I got more into self studying when I was younger instead of being behind on basic knowledge. This major seems alright in school but for applying for a job it’s not enough. You really need to study more on technical softwares for what specifically you want to delve in. I recommend looking at a job posting you want to apply to and study those criterias they list so you can have a better chance in getting it. The first step is always the hardest when getting your first internship. Being dedicated and networking is really helpful and try to find something passionate first to help with studying and then gradually add on. Try not to get burnt out with too much. Theres already so many sectors in a major and what job you specifically want.

Studying Information Systems at NYU has been a really interesting experience because it combines technology with the business side of how organizations work. I’ve been learning about topics like project management, systems analysis, and how technology can be used to solve real-world problems. One thing I wish I had known before starting is how broad Information Systems actually is. I originally thought it would mostly focus on technology, but there are a lot of different directions you can take it, from software and data to product and project management. Knowing that earlier would have helped me plan my classes more strategically around the technical skills I want to develop.

Analyzing the dynamics of systems and processes, Informations Systems and Operations Management prepares you with working with large data sets and applying statistical and computational methods in prediction and risk-assessments to support management decision-making.

I put this because I didn't see informatics as a major. It's great if you want to be a PM or learn soft skills. But then again I would recommend do CS and then learn soft skills by just experiencing life.
