Difficulty & workload
I wish I knew about clubs surrounding commerce because there’s so many options but I didn’t join clubs until later on. I also wish I knew about career services earlier on.

I am struggling with balancing the workload with my quality of life. I am someone who needs 8 hours of sleep to function properly and I have been sleep deprived because I have a ton of asignments, exams, and deliverables due. I feel like I never have a break and it is just one thing after the next.

Commerce is a great major, buy keep in mind it is a second round of applications, and clubs and outside resources can often help more.

I switched into this major for the brand name and alumni network, being part of commerce you are in a likeminded group applying for very similar jobs as you which help push me more rather than what we learn in class.

I wish I knew before getting in that GPA to get in comm school is what holds above all. So maybe take easier classes to help get in, then take more challenging and stimulating classes

I like the team environment and its collaborative nature. I also like the coursework and how it’s diverse and not just math heavy or just liberal arts type coursework heavy.

I think this is a really good major if you are somewhat uncertain about what career you want to choose. You learn a lot of valuable and widely applicable skills that will be beneficial in countless paths post grad. Also the workload is very manageable and interesting.

I wish I’d have known that the beginning classes you’d have to take in Comm are very standardized big lecture type classes again and can be uninteresting.

It’s been hard to deal with imposter syndrome surrounded by overachieving and ambitious students but I’m working to turn that into a motivator.

Commerce sets you up well for career prospects. Sometimes the work feels like busywork but you gain a useful understanding of the world.

The major is easy but is a huge help in securing a finance/consulting job. I highly recommend if you are interested in business. The best part in my opinion is that the professors usually have experience in the fields they teach

This major is only useful when you attend a university where everyone wants to be there, is invested, and cares. Your takeaways from class are a result of what people say in class, career prospects, and professors who are genuinely insightful. What you put in it what you get off since it’s a soft science.
- Interested in Finance & consulting · Entrepreneurship +1
Pursuing a job is almost a part of the major, which accompanies a somewhat more relaxed work load to take up more time.
