As an MCC student, I really enjoy how flexible the major is. Communication is such a broad field, so you get to explore different interests, from media and culture to advertising, public relations, and technology. I especially like that I can take classes that connect to my personal interests while still building skills that are useful for my future career.
One thing I appreciate is that the workload is generally manageable, which gives me time to get involved in clubs, internships, and research outside of class. I think those experiences are just as important as what you learn in the classroom.
My advice would be to take advantage of the flexibility and explore different areas of communication early on. Don’t be afraid to try classes outside your comfort zone, because you might discover an interest you didn’t even know you had!

The specific name of my major in NYU is called Media, Culture, and Communication; it is really helpful for people going into the entertainment industry, and a popular major for people on the pre-law track. The broadness of the major can be taken both good and bad: good because it allows careers prospects to be open but it can also be seen more difficult due to the abstract and open-ended nature of the course.
The course is designed to teach students how to be more analytical in the media landscape, thinking critically about how messages are conveyed and the implications of media, culture and technology.

- Still exploring careers
I think MCC is great if you haven't exactly figured out your path, but know that you're driven by certain fields and/or mediums.
